Chaos as Talent

A lot of comedians make it known that their humour started from a place of pain. Whether it be a defence mechanism or simply a way to shed some positive light on otherwise negative situations, it is true that their talent stems from hardship.

I think this rings true to a lot of creatives out there. For me I can definitely say that my willingness (or rather, need) to put thoughts down on paper and write away comes from a place of pain, discomfort, and panic. When I don’t know what else to do, I write. When I can’t make the anxiety feelings go away, I write. When all seems to be crumbling around me, I write.

I used to draw. Then I tried dancing it away. Then singing. But the one thing that’s always stuck with me is writing.

A lot of my thoughts do come from a place of hurt, that’s when I seem to have the most to say.

I don’t know what else to do, so I’ll just keep writing. Are you the same?
