Travel Portugal: The Best of All Worlds

I have to say, I am 100% biased when it comes to Portugal, as I am from there. However, you do get the best of all worlds in this small space!

Weather

We experience four clear seasons in Portugal, although it never gets too cold (doesn’t stay below 8ºC for long) unless you go to the Serra da Estrela (mountains) to enjoy some snow in the Winter.

In the Summer, it gets quite hot (up to 45 degrees Celsius near the seaside) and you can enjoy the choosing from any of the 100+ available beaches – however it does usually stay at around 30 degrees Celsius so don’t worry if you’re not a fan of heat.

History

Portugal is an old country full of history, palaces, castles, etc. There are many beautiful historical sites to visit if that is what you prefer doing when you go on holiday.

Food

Portugal cuisine is very varied, and you will have delicious local dishes anywhere you go. For a small country, there are many (and I mean many) meat, fish or vegetarian dishes to choose from. Due to its long coastline and vast rural areas, you can expect your ingredients to be very fresh wherever you visit. So, if you’re looking for food, this is the perfect place for you.

Beach

As I mentioned above, there are 100+ beaches to choose from, and all of them can be quite unique. You may choose beaches perfect for Surfing and activities alike (Praia Grande, Sintra), you can choose beaches with calmer and warmer water, perfect for relaxing (beaches in Cascais or Algarve), and many more!

Party

In Portugal, the party culture is very much alive and you will see many options (I know that for a fact in Lisbon). Do be aware that, in Portugal, parties don’t usually start until after midnight and will very often go on until 6 a.m. – so be ready if this is your scene.

There are many more reasons why Portugal is an amazing place, especially for tourists. As a lot of our income comes from tourism, it is a highly invested area of service, and you can bet everyone is happy to see tourists around.
