Why I Blog

I have a lot of thoughts. Some good, some bad, some are nonsense – but I’m definitely always thinking about a million things.

I also have a lot of hobbies but tend not to stick with only one for too long. That’s why I love blogging. A blog, for me, is a lot of different hobbies. Each story, each post, touches on something else I love to do, on a different topic, and that’s what makes it so interesting for me.

I write for a living, and it tends to be about a different topic every time, which is what I love to do.

This way, I’m always creating something new and coming up with new ideas on what to write – and that’s exhilarating.

Why do you blog?

  1. I write for a living as well, but it’s not creative writing. I missed creative writing, and I had a story to tell, so I started blogging. Now, it’s grown beyond that initial story of “redemption” into me just enjoying putting positive content out in the world. That’s why I blog.

  2. I started blogging to work my way through thoughts that troubled me, as a form of therapy. I found myself reluctant to dump any negativity onto readers. When I realized I didn’t want to weigh anyone else down with my emotional baggage, I then decided to do the same for myself. I post the thoughts I wish to cultivate in my own mind. Like Marcus Aurelius did in his ‘Meditations’.

  3. Interesting time for me to read this… I have been blogging for about 10 years. (Lost my first blog because of a career change.) Like you and your readers, I started just to express myself, share my students’ work, and talk about life. But, I’ve been thinking about just letting it all go. This post has given me a moment to reflect on why I write… thanks for that.

  4. I love this. I have one blog to post my teacher-y stuff and one to post my stuff that is totally just MY thoughts. Now that I am out of the classroom, they really are becoming closer to each other. I love the freedom to write as we think in a blog. It is very empowering. Thanks for stopping to read mine–I loved this post, and I loved reading the comments, too 🙂
