Finding Motivation

I have mentioned this before – I have too many interests! These interests usually keep me busy and entertained, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. How can I find  time to focus on all of them? How can I keep myself motivated?

I’m not going to lie, a lot of times I get home from work and wonder whether I should cook a very nice dinner (takes time), watch my new favourite TV show, study new languages, draw or write – because I might be able to do a few, but there’s certainly no time to focus on all. Some days I feel inclined to draw. Other days I write. Sometimes I just watch TV shows all afternoon (too many times). So I have been asking myself, what can I do to keep myself motivated?

I think one of the greatest ways of motivating yourself is to have a clear and realistic goal. Something you need to achieve by a specific deadline. It is also very important that you have a reason for having such interest. Are you trying to learn Portuguese because you want to live in Portugal a couple of months? Do you draw because it makes you happy? Do you write to be better at your job or just to better express your feelings?

Once you’ve figured out why you do these things, it becomes evident why you should focus on that and set goals, but remember – set realistic goals, or you might be demotivated because you know you won’t be able to achieve it.
